Congrats to my festival students 2013

It was a great festival this year with adjudicator Matthew McAllister (Scotland). Matthew gave such great advice and the students loved him.

I was super proud of all my students. They not only shared all their hard work and musical talents but also contributed to a real positive festival session. I like the idea of students enjoying music and the experiences of performing and not getting caught up in the vice of stress or technical challenges. I thought everyone enjoyed the session this year and didn’t let any negative vibes into the the mix. All played very musically and above all else played with maturity, and artistry. All successfully expressed their love for music. I’ve enjoyed past festival years as well, but this year I thought it was quite special. I’m honoured to be surrounded by such great and positive students! They will surely continue to surprise and impress me.

Results from my studio:

  • Simon – Provincial Candidate
  • Sofia – National Candidate

I also saw some excellent performances by Rowan and Bonnie. Congrats to all.

Some great work from Simon on Koshkin, Bach, and Villa-Lobos. Simon really impressed everyone this year with his hard work, dedication, and mature performance.

Sofia played Weiss, Dyens, and Mertz and it got her into the national category! It was a joy listening to Sofia this year because not only can she play well but she also knows how to have fun and be expressive on stage. Woo!

Bonnie - volunteer and guitarist extraordinaire

Bonnie volunteered all day helping Matthew and then performed! Who could handle such a double task you say? Only THE BONNIE!
