An overview of the sorts of things lute players were doing over the course of five centuries, including some Persian music on the barbat and Andalusian music the oud, working through to the early 18th century with music for archlute by Giovanni Zamboni.

Hensley will be demonstrating pieces on 11 different lutes and related instruments like gittern, vihuela and theorbo. He’ll also have examples of the sorts of printed books that were used from the early 16th century.
